Banking in the Present Day

INTASC principle #5 Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3500 words
INTASC principle #5 - Assignment Example Artifact: A classroom (kitchen) activity that helps students use technology and social interaction to create warm or cold fruit desserts. The lesson involves INTASC principle #5 of behavior and motivation. Character Education: This artifact represents the teacher's mastery of INTASC principle # 5 because it displays the teacher's ability to use classroom management principles in order to increase student participation and motivation, thus create a more positive interaction and relationship among students. It also helps students learn how to be accountable to individual and group behaviors, thus promote a goal-directed learning in the classroom. The students will be asked to read and incorporate in the group activity the verse from Philippians 2:4 ââ¬Å"Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.â⬠The main classroom management plan that is used for this activity is based on the principle of active student involvement. Students are ta sked to use the internet to search for kitchen safety rules and kitchen hazards. This is necessary prior to the kitchen activity itself. The students, in their groups, will talk about how to implement the safety precautions in the kitchen. Each group will be tasked to oversee a particular safety precaution they discussed in the classroom, and they will be responsible for ensuring that it is maintained throughout the whole kitchen activity. Each group will have a different kitchen safety precaution to manage. Through this activity, the students will be able to use technology to do their own research. Also, they will experience the importance of team work and active engagement in group interactions. Furthermore, giving the students the feeling of being trusted to determine kitchen rules for their activity could increase their sense of motivation. Reflection: I think that this lesson is very engaging for students because it involves everyone in a class activity that promotes positive t eam/group work. It also lets the students experience how it is to be responsible both for themselves and for others. My role here as a teacher is to look for means where students will have constant interaction through social engagement and make them see how important these are to make the group work successful. One area that needs to be addressed in this activity is the English communication skills of the non-native speakers of English. Another is the inclusion of children with disabilities in the group activity. Even though the class was divided evenly according to various ethnicity, socioeconomic, and academic considerations, children with special needs and the non-native speakers should not be excluded in the groups, and the teacher should make a careful balancing of whether to allow the class to decide on their own what their individual roles would be (with consideration to special needs children and the non-native speakers), or make the decision for the whole class on this matt er. This is where the part of incorporating the Biblical verse becomes very important, as students will be made responsible for each other and each other's participation and performance throughout the activity. Classroom Management Plan: Technology is essential in the artifact. This involves students accessing information online to complete the activity. This computer can also be used as a tool to integrate INTASC Principle #5 on motivation and behavior to create a learning environment that

It reveals the amount of money which is left over after deducting the cost of goods sold from the revenues. It is the source of paying for additional expenses and future savings. It indicates the manufacturing efficiency of the production process for the company. A high gross profit margin signifies that a company can make profit while keeping the overhead cost in control. A low margin indicates that a company is not able to control it s production cost. Retail Industry average of Gross profit margin is around 10%. But for both the companies it is below the industry standard. For Sainsbury it is 5% and for Tesco it is 6%. For both the company the cost of sales is high as percentage of its sales. For Sainsbury the cost of goods sold comprises of 95% of the sales figure and for Tesco it is 94%. Both the company must try to reduce its operating cost to improve its efficiency. There are ways to improve the gross profit margin. The company should look to optimise its price structure and should not look at discounting their prices. The company should try to sell goods at higher margins. The company should try to improve the inventory systems like less theft, stock obsolescence. Net Profit Margin The Net profit margin is how much dollar is earned by the company ultimately for each dollar of sales achieved by them. Similar to gross profit margin, their ratio shows the efficiency of the company. This ratio shows the compan yââ¬â¢s pricing policies and how efficient the company is in running its operation. Explore the range of linguistic and stylistic effects Essay Example for Free
Explore the range of linguistic and stylistic effects Essay Remind yourself of Act II Scene I beginning with the first speech by Owen, Now where have we got to? to the end of Hughs speech, Gentlemen. [he leaves]. Explore the range of linguistic and stylistic effects used here by Friel to bring out the central themes and issues of the play. In the play Translations Brian Friel explores many issues, one of which is the process of naming. The play is based on the introduction of the first Ordnance Survey, bringing with it the inevitability of anglicizing place names. In the extract naming is emphasised by constant references to various places in Ireland, and their English equivalents; for example Bun na hAbhann Burnfoot! . The link between a place and historical events is also emphasised; And you place names-what was the one we came across this morning? -Termon, from Terminus, the god of boundaries. The theme of naming is very closely linked to the loss which occurs as a result. As place names are anglicized, something is lost. Communities such as Baile Beag lose their cultural and political identities, and the original meaning is distorted. Friel used the theme of naming to highlight this loss of identity within the Irish community. The importance of names is also stressed in the repetition of place names: Owen: Bun na hAbhann Yolland: Again Owen: Bun na hAbhann Yolland: Bun na hAbhann Friel uses mapping, both literally and metaphorically, in order to convey his ideas. The actual mapping for the Ordnance Survey is maintained by Owens constant gesture of referring to the map which he and Yolland are working from. This is shown in the stage direction Owen returns to the map. Gestures such as this are used to great effect by Friel. Mapping is used metaphorically through Hughs speech, where, using the semantic field of geography, he talks of a linguistic contour and landscape of fact. The metaphor of codes is also used by Friel to express the complexity of language, and to express the idea that although one may learn a language, the true language of a community and the secrets which it holds are often difficult to decode. However, Friel does offer some hope, as Owen, Manus and Hugh have all learnt to decode the English language. Hugh is a character who, although is slightly self-deluded, is also a learned person. He speaks with intelligence, and always in Standard English; I like to think we endure around truths immemorially posited. Hugh often uses linguistic terms, such as a syntax opulent with tomorrows, and makes use of an analogy-you dont dispose of the cow just because it has produced a magnificent calf, do you? -in order to communicate his message to Yolland. Hugh is an educated man, who uses many literary features in his everyday speech, and is one of the few characters who realises Irelands inevitable future. This shows Friels desire to emphasise the importance of education for the new, modern world.
